Gear selector cover plate - front axel

Front axel - Stabaliser bar

Wasn't sure how this went on if I'm honest. I looked at the Haynes manual and some web pages but it wasn't clear.


I found this to be the wrong way round for the clamp. It is facing the correct way, tapered edge away from the wheel but it should come together at the bottom over the rubber bush.


This is correct.



Replacing the heater exchanger cables

When fitting the old cables the end snapped off. It was quite straight forward to replace them. It just requires taking the lever apart to get the end of the cable out.



Brake line - rear exit washer

I'm not sure if this is the correct rubber bung for this. I found it in my 'bits removed' box. At first I couldn't get it to fit so I had to file out the hole a little. Also some washing up liquid helps!



As you can see, there is still a gap around the break line which will need filling in. I might try some expanding foam or similar.

Tinware - crank pulley cover

I couldn't work out for a while either what this piece was or where it went. It seems obvious now. Before fitting it, I need to get some more stainless steel bolts. For the tinware it needs M6 threaded bolts.


Gear stick refitted

Painted the gear stick retainer and replaced it. Made sure the stop plate was correctly positioned. The curled up ends pointing up and the shorter on the left side.

Gearbox oil level check.

I didn't actually use the ratchet pictured. I tried it the week before for a minute or two but soon realised that it would need more effort than that. During my week away my brother had ago with the 17mm sump key and an extension.




It looked good as the inside of the sump bolt was covered in oil.


Unfortunately, when I put my finger inside I could not find any oil.

The oil will be replaced anyway.
