The bolts for the gear cradle where fine, it was just the rubber that needed replacing. According to the books and a chap I spoke to at VW heritage, this has the wrong type of cradle for the year. As my only aim is to get it through the MOT this is not a priority.
The internal nuts that attach the cradle to the gear box where fine.
The front gear box dampener needs replacing, but again the nuts are fine. Just need a bit of a clean.
When striping the body I was not as careful as I could have been. This tin of random screws, nuts and bolt is testament to others that whilst documenting each and every bit is tedious, its less fun guessing where they go!
A bit of military organisation helps.
