Cleaning the rear brakes

The rear of the brakes looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a few years! It seems to have green mold growing on it in places.


After taking the brake cylinders off, I tried to shift the pistons which push the brakes onto the drum. As you can see, the result was they broke!


Both drum and backplate have come up well. Later I need to cost them with krust and then paint.

Front axel

Once I had the floor on wood supported by axle stands it was time to put it back together...


When I took the axle off some time ago, I had sanded and painted it. Welding up the odd hole that existed.


Just 4 bolts hold the axle to the floor. There is a small recess that helps locate the axel.


Unfortunately, during my last attempt to return it to the road, I had not completed the paint job as can be seen here.
