Front brakes cleaning

Time to take the front brakes apart.

Fortunately the brake cylinders on the front where in good condition and could be used again. I removed them for cleaning.

Once I'd given everything a quick clean, ensured the adjusters where working and the brake pads had reasonable life in them, I put them back together.

The brake drum was kurusted and will be painted later. You can just see the outer bearing above being pushed into place. The inner bearing remained on the drum.

The outer bearing retaining washer pushed in keeping itself in the locating chanel that can just be seen above.

Finally the cover which has a hole in it for the speedo cable.

The first shots of the body on the floor

Body on the floor.

A spot of rust inside.

The heater channels may need replacing.

The body can now be pushed into the garage to keep it out of the elements whilst I arrange the shot blasting.

The squirrels no longer have a home

This is where the body has been resting.

A collection of rust has fallen along where the heater channels were.

And some nuts!

I guess the squirrels have been using the body whilst I wasn't.

All the wheels on

With the body due to go off to be shot blasted I put all the wheels on. The Body was only a walk away but needed 4 people to carry it. Once on the floor it could be transferred to a trailer with ease.

The floor is resting on four axle stands.
